Debian install hostapd 2

HOWTO Install the latest version of Hostapd in Debian 7
1. First we need to install the Github client.

2. Download the latest hostapd from github

It will take a minute (depends on the internet connection)

3. Enter the hostapd foler

4. Create the .config file

5. Before we alter the configuration we need to install the latest wifi drivers.

Maybe you also need the Ralink drivers

6. Install build-essential to compile hostapd 2.0

7. Edit the hostapd .config file

Remove the # in front of CONFIG_LIBNL32=y
Remove the # in front of CONFIG_IEEE80211N=y
Remove the # in front of CONFIG_IEEE80211AC=y
Remove the # in front of CONFIG_DEBUG_FILE=y
Remove the # in front of CONFIG_HS20=y

8. Compile hostapd 2.0

9. Check your hostapd version to see if it’s correctly installed

    found 2 issues with this.
    1. install libnl3. There is a conflict between libnl-3-dev and libnl-dev. Have to remove the libnl-dev.
    2. The libssl.dev package is needed to build the hostapd. Do the apt-get install libssl-dev if it is not already done. Then can do the make && make install

      Ah really, I thought I only used the commands I wrote down in this post.
